Our Mission
Nassau Suffolk Performing Arts is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1994 in order to provide talented student musicians from across Long Island and the metropolitan area with additional rehearsal and performance opportunities in the concert band, jazz band, and vocal jazz genres. We are committed to offering our members a high quality educational and performance-based program that will provide enriching experiences and memories that will foster a lifetime love of music.

Auditions for the 2017-2018 Season are now open for scheduling

Auditions may be scheduled on one of the following dates. No additional audition dates will be added. 

  • Monday, May 8
  • Thursday, May 18
  • Saturday, May 20
  • Saturday, May 27
  • Saturday, June 3
  • Monday, June 5

Before scheduling an audition, please visit the Audition Information page for audition requirements.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your audition email our Assistant Director. Be sure to include the name of the student auditioning, instrument, as well as date and time of the audition.

Due to the flood and high wind warnings in the forecast, tonight's (January 23) Youth Band, Honor Band, and Youth Jazz Band rehearsals have been cancelled.

The Nassau-Suffolk Winter Concerts will take place on February 4, 2017 at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post. Below, you will find sound check schedule and concert dress information for all of our ensembles. The sound checks will begin promptly at the times listed below. Students should be in their seats on stage, ready to play before the sound check begins.

Sound Check Schedule:

1:00pm Concert - Youth Band, Honor Band and Alumni Band

Honor Band: 11:00am-11:30am

Youth Band: 12:00-12:30pm

4:00pm Concert - Youth Jazz Band, Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble

Jazz Ensemble: 2:00-2:30pm 

Jazz Band: 2:30-3:00pm

Youth Jazz Band: 3:00-3:30

8:00pm Concert - Concert Band and Wind Symphony

Wind Symphony: 5:15-6:15pm

Youth Band Concert Dress

Girls: Black dress pants or black dress/skirt (must be long enough to drop below the knees) with a black or white top, no jeans, leggings or Uggs.

Boys: Black dress pants, white buttoned down dress shirt with a long tie, black dress socks (no short socks please), and black dress shoes (no sneakers).

Honor Band Concert Dress

Girls: All black and dressy, no jeans, leggings or Uggs. Skirts must be to the knee or longer.

Boys: Black dress pants, white buttoned down dress shirt with a long tie, black dress socks (no short socks please), and black dress shoes (no sneakers).

Concert Band and Wind Symphony Concert Dress

Ladies: All black and dressy, no jeans, leggings or Uggs. Skirts must be to the knee or longer.

Men: Dark suit or tuxedo, white shirt with bow tie, black dress socks (no short socks please), and black dress shoes (no sneakers).

Jazz Ensembles Concert Dress

Please see your directors for specific concert dress information.

Important Concert Dress information for all ensembles

In consideration of your fellow musicians please do not wear perfume, cologne, or after shave on the day of the concerts.

Ticket Information:

Tickets for the February 4, 2017 concerts will go on sale no later than December 15, 2016. Tickets are available in person at Tilles Center Box Office or by calling 516-299-3100. The box office is open Monday to Saturday from 1-6pm. Tickets will also be available at the box office beginning at  11:00am on the day of the performance. Seating is general admission. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $15 Students/Seniors. There is a $4 surcharge for all tickets purchased by phone. There is no surcharge for tickets purchased at the box office.
