Audition Information

AUDITION INFORMATION

All auditions for the 2024-2025 season will take place online. There is no audition fee. New and continuing students are required to complete the Audition Form. Students will be asked to upload a video performance of a solo from the NYSSMA manual (or equivalent). Students auditioning for Nassau-Suffolk must be a member in good standing of their school band program. For requirements, visit the appropriate link below for the ensemble for which you would like to audition. 

Using the device of your choice (phone, computer, camera, etc.) record the required audition material. Follow the directions in the Audition form to upload your video to YouTube and submit the link. (If you need help with this process, review the tutorial slideshow at the bottom of this page.)

Only one audition video is required for each performing group, even if you are auditioning on multiple instruments (flute/piccolo, Bb/Eb clarinet, etc.). However, If you are planning on auditioning for a symphonic band and a jazz ensemble you will need to fill out the form more than once. 

Auditions for all Nassau-Suffolk performing ensembles are due by June 14. After that time auditions will only be accepted on an as-needed basis.

RETURNING STUDENT INFORMATION

All returning students must re-audition for placement in the 2024-2025 Nassau-Suffolk Ensembles.

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

• Upon acceptance, there is a $700 registration/membership fee for all ensembles.
• If students are accepted to and participate in both the Youth Jazz Band and either the Youth Band or Honor Band, they will pay an additional $500 membership fee for the second ensemble.

Monday Evening Rehearsals @ Mineola High School:
Youth Jazz Band 5:00-6:30pm
Youth Band & Honor Band 7:00pm-8:30pm

Saturday Morning Rehearsals @ Mineola High School:
Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band & Jazz Ensemble 9:00-12:00pm
